The Mys Oktyabr’skiy lighthouse, built in 1956, stands 25 meters tall with an iron structure painted in black and white horizontal bands. Its focal height reaches 35 meters, and it emits a geographic range of 16.2 nautical miles. The lighthouse is located on the western side of the Kamchatka Peninsula, approximately 16 kilometers south of the Oktyabr’skiy settlement, near Zuykovo. Before the current tower, earlier navigational aids were established on the site, including a wooden daybeacon in 1908 and a 19-meter wooden pyramidal tower in 1944. This light serves vessels navigating the waters of the Okhotsk Sea.
Why it matters: The distinct bands on its tower offer a clear daytime visual aid, and the light warns ships along the western Kamchatka coast.
