About Mys Kruglyy Lighthouse
Constructed in 1966, this 16-meter tall octagonal tower features black and white horizontal bands. Its focal plane is 143 meters above sea level. The lighthouse produces a white flash every 10 seconds (Fl W 10s), detectable up to 29 nautical miles. Situated on Kamchatka's southeast coast, it is about 58 kilometers from the port of Petropavlovsk. The structure sustained damage from earthquakes in 1971 and 1995, causing service interruptions before its refurbishment in 2002.
Why it matters: This light serves as a navigation aid for the Kamchatka coast, an area characterized by seismic events and difficult waters.
