About Mys Govena Lighthouse
The Mys Govena lighthouse is a 21-meter tall square concrete tower painted white with a black horizontal band. It is situated at the eastern entrance to the Bay of Korfa, marking the remote Govena Peninsula. The lighthouse was established to aid vessels navigating into the bay. Although its exact construction date is not recorded, the Admiralty officially reported the light abandoned by 2009. A photograph taken in 2018 showed the structure in a weathered condition. Its current operational status is not confirmed.
Why it matters: This lighthouse warns ships about the headland at the eastern entrance to the Bay of Korfa, a critical point for safe passage.
