Murotomisaki Kō West Breakwater Extension Lighthouse

A round, cylindrical concrete tower, 13 meters in height and painted red, marks the outer end of an extension to the south breakwater at Murotomisaki port. The light's focal plane is 17 meters above sea level, and it displays a red light with a four-second cycle, characterized as Fl R 4s. This structure was lost during a typhoon in October 2019 but was later reconstructed. The replacement offers the same visual characteristics and operational status as the original, serving as a marker for the harbor approach.

Why it matters: This lighthouse serves as a marker for vessels navigating toward Murotomisaki port, a harbor located near the Muroto Saki cape. It specifically indicates the termination of the south breakwater, warning vessels of potential contact with submerged dangers when entering the port's docking areas.
