The Morro Calvario lighthouse was built in 1978 and first lit in the same year. This cylindrical concrete tower, standing 12 meters high on a square pyramidal base, is painted yellow. It is situated on a headland at Puerto Casma, about 50 kilometers south of Chimbote. The lighthouse emits a white light with a single flash every 15 seconds. The focal height of the light is 242 meters, providing a geographic range of 36.7 nautical miles. The site is open to the public, but the tower itself is closed.
