It features an octagonal base, a lantern room, and a gallery. Adjacent to the tower is a building that formerly housed the lighthouse crew. The lighthouse emits a white flash every 15 seconds, visible for over 26 nautical miles. Moneron Island itself is uninhabited and located in the Tatar Strait, southwest of Sakhalin Island.
