About Molo di Ponente Lighthouse
Also known as: Molo di Ponente (Molo Corto)
The Molo di Ponente lighthouse is a red, cylindrical masonry tower standing 6 meters tall, with its focal plane at 8 meters. It is situated at the end of the short west mole in Oneglia, on the east side of Imperia. The structure includes a lantern and gallery, painted red, with a gray metallic lantern housing. First lit in 1881, it emits a red light with two flashes every seven seconds. This lighthouse guides vessels into the harbor of Imperia.
Why it matters: The lighthouse clearly marks the harbor entrance, preventing vessels from grounding on the mole and facilitating safe navigation into the port of Imperia.
