About Mevikholmen Lighthouse
Also known as: #Mevikholmen (Torsholmen)
Mevikholmen was a small, 6-meter tall stone tower with a white exterior and red roof, topped by a lantern and gallery on tripod piles. It stood on a skerry approximately 400 meters north of the Sålåsund Bridge, which connects the islands of Tustna and Stabben in the Møre og Romsdal region. The light emitted a green flash characteristic. While its exact construction date is not recorded, the structure served mariners in this narrow passage. It remained operational until around 2014 and was removed entirely by 2023. The site itself is open to the public, though the tower is no longer accessible.
Why it matters: This light was important for guiding vessels through the narrow passage near the Sålåsund Bridge, contributing to safer navigation in a constricted waterway.
