About Metropolis Hope Lighthouse
The Metropolis Hope lighthouse is a 9-meter round steel tower built in 2014 and located in Dorothy Miller Park. It features a white exterior with a blue band at the top and a black lantern. The structure stands 12 meters above the focal plane and has a geographic range of 11 nautical miles. It emits a white flash characteristic. The lighthouse was installed and activated in June 2014 and underwent repainting and a new lighting system installation in 2022. The site is open to the public, but the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: This lighthouse serves as a symbol for the Hope Light Project's mission in the fight against cancer, representing hope and community resilience rather than traditional maritime navigation.
