Marstrand Area Lighthouses Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Marstrand Area Lighthouses Lighthouse
The current Lekskär (2) Lighthouse, a white metal quadrilateral tower, was constructed in 1897. It stands 7 meters tall and is situated on a skerry approximately 2 kilometers south of Klåverön. The station was first established in 1884, but the original structure was lost to fire. The lighthouse emits two white, red, or green flashes every six seconds, with its light color indicating specific navigational directions. A 3-meter octagonal lantern is mounted atop the tower. An earlier daybeacon from 1868, a checkerboard-patterned wood tower, also stands nearby.
Why it matters: This lighthouse is essential for safe passage through the Marstrand area, especially for vessels navigating south of Klåverön and Marstrand. The combination of the lighthouse and the nearby daybeacon forms a significant navigational complex.
