Location & Light Range
About Lögaren Lighthouse
The Lögaren lighthouse stood on an islet in the Gulf of Bothnia, located about five kilometers southeast of Hörnefors. This cylindrical concrete tower, standing 19.5 meters tall, was built in 1966. Its exterior was painted white on the upper half and black on the lower half, topped with a lantern and gallery. For over fifty years, the lighthouse provided guidance to maritime traffic in the northern Baltic Sea. Its operational life concluded in 2018 when it was deactivated and subsequently removed from its post.
Why it matters: The lighthouse was significant for guiding vessels through the Gulf of Bothnia, particularly near Hörnefors, and for delineating safe passages in a complex coastal environment.
