Kushimoto Shinko is a white cylindrical concrete tower standing 8.5 meters tall, situated on the south breakwater of a small boat harbor. Rising from a one-story equipment building, its focal plane is 11 meters above sea level. The light emits a single green flash every 3 seconds, visible for 10.7 nautical miles. It marks the entrance to the harbor, located northeast of the main port of Kushimoto in Wakayama Prefecture. The site is open to visitors, though the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: This light guides vessels into the small boat harbor, marking the safe channel directly off the breakwater.
