About Knubbehausen Lighthouse
Also known as: #Knubbehausen
This concrete post lighthouse, standing 14 meters tall, was located southeast of the Kragerøfjorden entrance in the Skagerrak. It featured a white tower with a single red horizontal band and a red lantern roof. The light emitted two white flashes every 5 seconds, with red and green sectors also used. Mounted on a concrete platform supported by three piles, the structure guided vessels approaching Kragerø. In April 2011, the original lighthouse was destroyed following a collision with the ship Hagland Saga. A replacement structure now continues its function.
Why it matters: The lighthouse was critical for guiding vessels through the potentially hazardous entrance to the Kragerøfjorden, utilizing its sector light for precise directional warnings.
