About Kii Hino Misaki Lighthouse
Also known as: #Kii Hino Misaki
Located at Hino Misaki on the Kii Peninsula near Hidaka, this round cylindrical concrete tower stands 14 meters tall. Built in 1951 and painted white, it features a lantern and gallery, connected to a 1-story concrete equipment structure. Its original 1895 structure was lost during a 1945 U.S. air attack. The 1951 replacement served as a navigation marker until its removal in 2017. The closest port, Ubuyu, is 1.7 kilometers distant.
Why it matters: The destruction of the first lighthouse in 1945 and its 1951 replacement underscore the need for this marker to ensure safe navigation near the Hino Misaki cape.
