About Kalla Lighthouse
Also known as: Kalla (1 and 2)
The Kalla Lighthouse consists of a 9-meter white steel skeletal tower standing 10.5 meters above sea level. This triangular structure operates with a white, red, and green light that flashes in a sequence every 5 seconds. Adjacent to the active tower is an older pyramidal skeletal tower. The lighthouse is situated on a small island approximately 20 kilometers north of Rauma in the Satakunta region. Visitors can access the island site, though the tower itself remains closed to the public. The nearest port is Olkiluoto, located 3.7 kilometers away.
Why it matters: This lighthouse aids navigation north of Rauma, with its sector light indicating safe passage. The pairing of an active modern tower with a nearby older structure visually represents the progression of lighthouse engineering.
