About Kajakulma Lighthouse
Also known as: Kajakulma (Range Front)
This concrete tower, standing 10 meters tall, is painted white with a red band at the top. It is situated on a reef approximately 4 km north of Hyllkari island, marking the north coast of Kajakulma island. The lighthouse emits a white, red, or green light, flashing at 2-second intervals. Previously, it served as the rear light for the Kajaniemi range, which has since been discontinued. The tower's focal height reaches 12 meters, and its geographic range extends to 11 nautical miles.
Why it matters: The lighthouse warns of the reef it occupies off Kajakulma island. Its continued operation highlights its role in local navigation.
