Kainan City Lighthouses Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Kainan City Lighthouses Lighthouse
A red light is displayed every 3 seconds from a simple 5-meter post on the south breakwater at the entrance to Kainan harbor. This current light replaced an original 9.5-meter round hourglass-shaped concrete tower built in 1969. The older structure, which also exhibited a red light, was demolished in 2017 after the Kainan breakwaters were rebuilt between 2015 and 2017. The geographic range of the light is 10 nautical miles. While the breakwater site is accessible, the tower itself is no longer present.
Why it matters: This light guides vessels entering Kainan harbor, ensuring safe navigation into the port.
