This concrete cylindrical tower, standing 12 meters high, guides vessels into the port of Iwamatsu. Painted black with a single red horizontal band, it emits a green light. The lighthouse is situated at the end of the outer breakwater, marking the entrance to the deep inlet about 16 km south of Uwajima. Its focal plane is 11 meters above sea level, and it has a geographic range of 10.7 nautical miles. The site is open to the public, but the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: Iwamatsu Kō is essential for the safe navigation of fishing boats and other vessels entering and leaving the port of Iwamatsu, marking the end of the outer breakwater.
