Islote Vedrà Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Islote Vedrà Lighthouse
A cylindrical stone and concrete tower, standing 4 meters tall, was built in 1959 on a rocky reef off Ibiza's southwest corner. The unpainted structure features a small red lantern and emits a white flash every five seconds. This lighthouse replaced an earlier station established in 1927 that was destroyed by a winter storm. The current light is positioned higher on the slope to improve its resilience against harsh weather. Its focal height reaches 21 meters above the sea, providing a geographic range of 13.4 nautical miles.
Why it matters: Classified as a lighthouse rather than a buoy, this light warns mariners of the hazardous rocky reef near Ibiza, a common hazard for local and recreational craft.
