Ildjernsflu Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Ildjernsflu Lighthouse
Located on the east side of the Oslofjord, approximately 1 kilometer offshore from Nesodden, this concrete and fiberglass hexagonal tower stands 9 meters tall. The structure, first lit in 2016, exhibits a directional light with a focal height of 16 meters, visible for 12.2 nautical miles. Its color scheme features white with two narrow black horizontal bands and a red top. The light cycles through white, red, and green, showing three occluded flashes every 10 seconds. The original lightship at this location sank in 1929 after colliding with the steamship Storesand I, and its wreck is now a diving attraction.
Why it matters: This light guides maritime traffic in the busy Oslofjord, particularly for vessels navigating the eastern side near Nesodden.
