About Hovden Lighthouse
The Hovden lighthouse is a 7-meter tall cylindrical fiberglass tower, situated at a focal height of 8 meters. Its light displays an Oc WRG 6s characteristic, cycling through white, red, and green sectors every 6 seconds. This structure, with a white lantern and red roof, and a round gallery, was constructed around 2016. The light station began operation in 1897, and its light was moved to the north side of the Hovden harbor entrance, on a mole. The light's visibility extends 9.7 nautical miles.
Why it matters: The lighthouse functions as a navigation aid marking the Hovden harbor entrance. Its colored sectors inform local mariners about safe navigation channels.
