This concrete lighthouse, first lit in 1883, stands 10 meters tall with its lantern and gallery atop a round cylindrical tower. It features red and white horizontal bands and rises from a one-story keeper's house. The focal height is 50 meters, and its geographic range extends to 18.7 nautical miles. The light emits white flashes, with a characteristic of two white flashes every 20 seconds. It is situated at the end of a sharp promontory that shelters the harbor of Otaru, approximately 8 kilometers north of the waterfront.
