Location & Light Range
About Hinatuan East Lighthouse
Located on the eastern tip of Hinatuan Island in the Philippines, this white, cylindrical lighthouse stands 9.5 meters tall with a focal height of 14 meters. Constructed from fiberglass, its unique barbell shape makes it a distinctive structure. The light emits a white flash every seven seconds, visible for 11.6 nautical miles. Operational and automated, it serves as a key navigational aid in the waters off Surigao del Norte. Its remote location on a small island off Mindanao is accessible only by boat.
Why it matters: The lighthouse's light warns vessels away from the easternmost point of Hinatuan Island, an important area for local maritime traffic and fishing.
