About Hime Saki Lighthouse
Hime Saki Lighthouse stands 44 meters tall with a focal height of 42 meters. This white concrete conical tower is banded in red and equipped with a radar reflector. It emits a white light with one flash every 6 seconds, visible for 18 nautical miles. The lighthouse is situated at the tip of Himezaki, marking the entrance to Ryotsu Bay. Originally constructed as an iron structure, it has since been rebuilt with concrete.
Why it matters: This lighthouse is recognized as the oldest active iron-made lighthouse in Japan and has been included in both the "100 Great Lighthouses of the World" and "50 Lighthouses of Japan" lists.
