About Hane Saki Lighthouse
Hane Saki Lighthouse, built and first lit in 1953, is a white concrete cylindrical tower standing 11 meters tall. Its lantern and gallery sit atop the structure. The lighthouse is situated on a promontory approximately 10 km northwest of Muroto, Kochi Prefecture, on the east side of a cape. From a focal height of 78 meters, it emits a white light with two flashes every 20 seconds, visible for 22.4 nautical miles. The tower itself is constructed from concrete and is an active aid to navigation.
Why it matters: This lighthouse warns vessels of the Hane Saki promontory, a significant coastal feature on the east side of the cape. Its light ensures safe passage for ships transiting the waters off Muroto.
