About Hanö Lighthouse
The Hanö Lighthouse, a cylindrical brick tower standing 16 meters tall, was built in 1906. It is situated at the highest point of Hanö, an inhabited island located approximately 4 kilometers off the southeastern coast of the Listerlandet peninsula. The lighthouse features a white tower with a lantern and gallery, attached to a 1-1/2 story keeper's house also constructed of brick. Its light emits one white flash every 13.5 seconds, with a geographic range of 21.4 nautical miles and a focal height of 70 meters. The site is open to the public, though the tower itself remains closed.
Why it matters: This lighthouse assists navigation in the waters near the southeastern tip of Listerlandet and marks the Hanö island nature reserve.
