Halsvær Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Halsvær Lighthouse
This 8.5 meter skeletal tower stands on a skerry off the western tip of Senja's southern peninsula. Supported by four black piles on a square platform, it features a white lantern with a red roof. The light emits two white flashes every 8 seconds, with red and green sectors also present. Its geographic range extends to 9.7 nautical miles. The site is open to the public, but the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: The lighthouse's directional light, changing between white, red, and green, guides vessels through specific channels and past submerged hazards along Senja's southern coast.
