About Guiuan Lighthouse

The Guiuan Lighthouse was formerly situated atop the bell tower of the historic Guiuan Church of the Immaculate Conception. This structure served as a navigational aid for vessels approaching the port of Guiuan, located on Samar's southeastern peninsula. The lighthouse became inactive in November 2013 after Typhoon Yolanda caused extensive damage to the church. Although repairs were underway on the tower in early 2017, a 2019 image indicated the light was no longer operational. The site continues to attract visitors.
