The GrabowUnterfeuer lighthouse was established in 1937. It is a square skeletal tower constructed of steel and stands 11 meters tall, with its light at a focal height of 12 meters. The tower is painted with red and white horizontal bands. This lower light is situated 450 meters west of the Oberfeuer, on the north side of the Strelasund. Its operational light emits two red flashes every 10 seconds and has a geographic range of 11 nautical miles. The lighthouse is located near Garz/Rügen.
Why it matters: This light, in conjunction with the Oberfeuer, forms a range that guides vessels through the Strelasund, a critical strait for maritime traffic connecting to the port of Stralsund.
