About Gjæva Lighthouse
Gjæva lighthouse is a cylindrical fiberglass tower standing 6 meters tall, with its light positioned 7 meters above sea level. The structure is white with a red lantern roof. It replaced an earlier lantern and gallery that were mounted on a stone cairn. This light is located in the Prestfjord, east of Skogsøy, on a small island off the entrance to Myre harbor. Its operational light emits white, red, or green flashes on a 6-second cycle.
Why it matters: This lighthouse guides vessels into and out of Myre harbor, with its directional light system providing critical real-time information for safe navigation.
