About Forli-Cesena Province Lighthouses Lighthouse
This cylindrical brick lighthouse in Cesenatico, established in 1892, guides vessels into the Porto Canale. The original square tower was lost during World War II, and the current round structure was built subsequently. It stands 17 meters tall with a focal height of 18 meters and emits a white light with one flash every 6 seconds. The lighthouse is attached to a two-story brick keeper's house, which now functions as an office for the Guardia Costiera. The tower was repainted in 2021. The site is accessible to the public, but the tower itself remains closed.
Why it matters: This light is essential for maritime safety, directing ships into Cesenatico's historic Porto Canale, a waterway with a heritage tied to Leonardo da Vinci's designs. Its ongoing operation supports local fishing and tourism by ensuring safe harbor access.
