About Flatflesa Lighthouse
The lighthouse station on Flatflesa was established in 1902. Its light was moved to a 20-meter iron tower in 1939. The current, modern 11-meter fiberglass tower, cylindrical in shape with a lantern and gallery, was built in 1988. It displays three occultations of white light every 10 seconds and has a focal height of 17 meters. The tower is painted white with two narrow black horizontal bands. This station is situated on a small island approximately 4 kilometers west of Gossa, with views visible from ferries operating between Gossa and Harøy.
Why it matters: The lighthouse's unique directional light, which changes between white, red, and green, offers precise guidance for navigating the numerous small islands and potential hazards in the archipelago west of Gossa.
