Fjordskär Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Fjordskär Lighthouse
This lighthouse, first established in 1882, is situated on a skerry at the western entrance to Kungsbackafjord, approximately 3 km south of Gottskär. The current structure features a 10-meter round lantern, painted white, mounted on a substantial stone wall. Its design evolved significantly in 1908 when the original keeper's cottage, from which the light was initially displayed, was removed and an octagonal lantern was installed. The light emits a white, red, or green flash every 3 seconds and has a geographic range of 10.4 nautical miles. The site is open to the public, though the tower itself remains closed.
Why it matters: The lighthouse is important for vessels navigating the entrance to Kungsbackafjord due to its sector light providing directional guidance.
