About Fjøløy Lighthouse
This post light stands on the southwestern side of Fjøløy island, directly opposite the Tungenes lighthouse across the Kvitsøyfjord. The current 7-meter white post structure, featuring a small lantern and gallery with a red roof, was built in 1954. It emits two white, red, or green flashes every 8 seconds, with a geographic range of 12.4 nautical miles. The lighthouse station was first established in 1849, with the original light replaced in 1867 before the current structure was erected. The island is accessible from Stavanger via the Byfjord Tunnel and connecting bridges. While the site is open to visitors, the tower itself is closed.
