About Faludden Lighthouse
Built in 1867, Faludden Lighthouse is a ten-sided tapered cast iron tower standing 11 meters tall. It is situated on a promontory in Gotland County, Sweden, approximately 15 kilometers east of Burgsvik. The lighthouse emits an isophase white light, cycling every 2 seconds. It was deactivated on April 15, 2009, but was later reactivated, with a new light pattern announced in 2018. The lighthouse is part of a military reservation and is closed to the public.
Why it matters: Faludden Lighthouse marks a coastal hazard and is a notable example of 19th-century lighthouse engineering, potentially housing its original Fresnel lens.
