About Dique de San Esteban Lighthouse
Located at the terminus of the western breakwater, this structure marks the entry to the Río Nalón at San Esteban de Pravia. The current concrete post, 8 meters tall and displaying horizontal black and white bands, was erected in 1997, rising from a single-story equipment building. The light, first activated in 1997, has a focal plane of 19 meters and a range of 12.9 nautical miles. The light characteristic is a single white flash every 12 seconds. The original station was founded in 1945.
Why it matters: This navigation aid assists vessels entering and exiting the Río Nalón, serving nearby shipping and fishing operations.
