Built in 1891, the Dickinson Landing lighthouse is a square pyramidal wood tower standing 7 meters tall. It was first lit in the same year it was constructed, marking a point on the St. Lawrence River near Cornwall. The lighthouse featured a white light and was removed from its original location during the construction of the St. Lawrence Seaway. It now resides at Upper Canada Village, near Morrisburg, at the west end of a canal.
Why it matters: This lighthouse serves as a preserved artifact from the St. Lawrence Seaway project, representing a significant effort in heritage preservation related to the submerged communities.
