Daio Saki Lighthouse, a cylindrical concrete tower built in 1927, stands 23 meters tall on a promontory about 30 kilometers south of Toba in Mie Prefecture. It was constructed following the wreck of the Otawa cruiser. The structure, which includes a lantern and gallery atop a two-story keeper's house, was damaged during World War II and again by a typhoon in 1959. Restoration efforts in 1978 ensured its continued operation. The lighthouse emits alternating red and white flashes every 15 seconds. The site is open to the public, though the tower is closed.
