About Courbe Maskinongé Lighthouse
Also known as: Courbe Maskinongé (Maskinongé Curve)
The Courbe Maskinongé lighthouse, erected and illuminated in 1973, is a 14-meter high cylindrical structure. Its exterior is distinguished by red and white horizontal bands. The tower includes a double gallery but lacks a lantern. The light displays a yellow occulting characteristic, with a 1-second on-time and a 1-second off-time. This navigation aid stands on the south side of the channel at a curve within Lac St.-Pierre, southeast of Louiseville. At one time, the structure supported a helipad at its peak. The Canadian Coast Guard manages this active light.
