Collioure and Port-Vendres Lighthouses Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Collioure and Port-Vendres Lighthouses Lighthouse
This active lighthouse, established in 1886, is situated at the termination of the north jetty guarding the entrance to Collioure's harbor. The structure begins with a round stone tower measuring 14 meters in height, which attaches to the mole. Above this, a stone equipment room sits level with the mole, followed by a distinct round cast iron watch room. Four curved iron legs support the light. The lighthouse emits an isophase green light every 4 seconds, visible for 11.6 nautical miles. While the site is accessible to the public, the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: The lighthouse is essential for safe navigation into Collioure's fishing port. Its unusual architectural combination of stone and cast iron makes it a distinctive feature on the Mediterranean coast.
