About Chebucto Head Lighthouse
Chebucto Head Lighthouse is situated atop a cliff at the western entrance to Halifax Harbour. The current octagonal concrete tower, painted white with a red lantern, stands 14 meters tall and was built in 1967. Its focal height reaches 49 meters, casting a white light with a single flash every 20 seconds for a geographic range of 18.5 nautical miles. The original station at this location was established in 1872. The lighthouse is located at the end of Duncan's Cove Road, near Duncans Cove, Nova Scotia. A foghorn also operates, sounding two blasts every 60 seconds.
