About Casablanca Entrance Lighthouse
Also known as: Casablanca Entrance (Range Rear)
The Casablanca Entrance light is a 45-meter-tall square tower situated on a tall pier building within Casablanca harbor. Its design features a lantern atop the pier structure, with the front of the light tower painted red and a white vertical stripe. This light served as the rear element of a navigational range, working with a front light to guide vessels into the port. The front light was discontinued in 2015. The main light ceased operation and became inactive in 2023. The tower is located 1.3 km from the nearest port facilities.
Why it matters: The light's former function as the rear of a navigational range provided precise alignment for vessels entering the busy Casablanca harbor.
