This green light is situated on the eastern breakwater of the harbor at Carry-le-Rouet, approximately 20 kilometers west of Marseille. The current structure, a light on a cylindrical pole next to a smaller equipment shelter, dates from the 1960s. It stands 9 meters above the water and emits very quick green flashes. This aid to navigation replaced an earlier system in 2012. The site is open to the public, though the tower is closed.
Why it matters: The light marks the eastern breakwater, guiding local fishing boats and pleasure craft safely into the harbor of Carry-le-Rouet.
