About Cansilan Lighthouse
Also known as: Cansilan (Basay)
This cylindrical lighthouse stands 10 meters tall and is constructed from fiberglass. Its round, hourglass shape is a distinctive feature on the southwest coast of Negros. The light emits a single white flash every 5 seconds from a focal height of 14 meters. The tower is situated on a promontory approximately 30 kilometers from the nearest port. While the site is open to visitors, access to the tower itself is restricted.
Why it matters: The lighthouse warns mariners of a sharp promontory on the southwest coast of Negros, a significant navigational point for vessels in the area. Its unique fiberglass tower design also sets it apart.
