About Cangas Inner Mole Lighthouse
This square stone tower, standing 6 meters tall, was painted white with unpainted stone trim. It marked the end of the main breakwater mole at Cangas, on the north side of the Ría de Vigo. The lighthouse's focal height was 2 meters, and it had a geographic range of 6.7 nautical miles. Its operational life concluded in 2011 when the light was moved. Although inactive, the site remains open to the public, allowing visitors to approach the tower's base.
Why it matters: The lighthouse clearly delineated the end of the Cangas breakwater mole within the Ría de Vigo, aiding safe passage for vessels entering and exiting the port.
