Børøyholmen Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Børøyholmen Lighthouse
Børøyholmen lighthouse is a 13m concrete post. It has a lantern and gallery and is painted white, with a red lantern roof. First lit in 1970, it superseded a light station active from 1874. The former station featured an 8m tower connected to a keeper's dwelling, which was removed in 1973. The present lighthouse gives a directional light with white, red, or green signals, repeating every 6 seconds. Its reach is 11.3 nautical miles. The light is active and functions as a navigation marker.
Why it matters: This lighthouse marks the waters east of Hestvika, near Hitra island. Its directed signals assist ships in navigating local waterways and reaching the island.
