Brandnäsbrotten Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Brandnäsbrotten Lighthouse
This concrete tower, standing 10 meters tall, was first lit in 1886. It featured a cylindrical white structure with a green base and a lantern room with a gallery. The lighthouse was situated on the south side of the Göteborg approach channel, north of Galterö. Its operational service ended in 2006, and the tower was demolished in the same year. Today, only the green concrete base remains at the site, which is open to visitors.
Why it matters: The lighthouse served as a navigational aid for vessels entering the Göteborg approach channel, one of Sweden's primary ports. Its demolition marked a shift towards modern navigation technologies.
