About Boksacho Lighthouse
The Boksacho lighthouse, erected in 2009, is a 29m round scientific platform resting on four piles. Its exterior features a black finish with a wide red horizontal stripe. The light emits a single white flash every 10 seconds and has a geographic range of 12.4 nautical miles. This aid is situated approximately 15 kilometers southeast of the Jodo Islands and the same distance northwest of the Chuja Islands. The port of Wando is 31.6 kilometers distant.
Why it matters: This structure provides navigation marking for the waters between the Jodo and Chuja Islands. Functioning also as an observation post, it supplies hydrographic and oceanographic information, furthering maritime security and scientific inquiry.
