This square skeletal tower, painted red, stands 12 meters tall and is mounted on a platform supported by piles. Its focal height reaches 15 meters, emitting a red flash every 4 seconds with a geographic range of 11.9 nautical miles. Established to improve safety, the light guides vessels navigating near the end of the south breakwater. The site is open to the public, although the tower itself is closed. It is located approximately 69.5 kilometers from Makassar.
Why it matters: This light is essential for ferry routes connecting Bira with Pulau Selayer and other South Sulawesi Islands, warning vessels away from the submerged end of the south breakwater.
