Bancao-Bancao Lighthouse is a slender, square concrete tower constructed in 1908. Standing 11 meters tall, it emits a white flash every 5 seconds. The tower features an external concrete spiral stairway that encircles its exterior. It is located approximately 3 kilometers from Puerto Princesa, the main port of Palawan. The lighthouse currently operates as an active Philippine Coast Guard station, with additional supporting structures on site.
Why it matters: This lighthouse guides vessels entering and departing the harbor of Puerto Princesa, a significant regional hub. Its distinctive external spiral stairway makes it a recognizable navigational aid.
